Awesome! But what is it? A Game or a Movie

Ed Boon, creator of Mortal Kombat has advised that the next game in the series would shoot for a M rating.. but it is unclear of official whether this is a reboot for the movie or a live action trailer for the next game. Either way.. it looks RAD!

We all love mods, me in particular love mods of older hardware. Like the N64 toaster I saw a couple of years ago.

Today @ slash gamer this gamecube mod came into my RSS reader.. and it’s awesome!

It’s been almost half a decade since the 360 was released with the PS3 lagging a year behind in their unveiling and launch.

Although Sony got off to a rough start to this generation of console gaming, in the last year or so it seems to becoming worthwhile. I strongly believe that the PS3 as longer legs than the 360 and Sony have already released a new model for the market, the PS3 slim. Microsoft have given us new releases of the 360 but no real architecture improvements merely cosmetic differences or capacity changes, an upgrade CPU sure, but that was a product of resolution to their instability issues (RROD anyone?).

However, could we be seeing the 360 slim at E3 this year?

I certainly hope so, as a owner of a Wii, 360 and PS3. I certainly like all consoles for their certain pro’s, and I definitely would like to see Microsoft keep up this year with what could be a boom in PS3 sales.

Steam have recently released a new client for their users to opt in and test, boasting a heap of new functionality for managing friends as well as cometic interface improvements. However, files with macoOSX identifiers have been found in the new beta client which is indicative that we could possibly be seeing a launch of steam for mac users. Big news definately, we will have to wait and see.

Starcraft II has finally gone into beta, a much awaited announcement by fans of the series. If you happened to get a beta invite Packetaddict would love to hear from you… as unfortunately my beta invite must have been lost in the ether ;)

EA have announced that they will be expanding on the NBA Jam classic series for the Wii. Hopefully they do a lot better than the 2004 release for Xbox and Playstation that belly flopped into the market and disappointed fans globally.

Boomshakalaka!

Australians can expect an update for their 360 tonight at 9pm AEST. Microsoftians will be able to twitter and facebook to their hearts content but more interestingly have access to videos on demand.

Ausgamers

Movies On Demand is actually our most sought feature as we’re promised 1080p streaming video as well as the ability to stream as part of a party of friends, all watching the same movie at the same time; you can even communicate with one another (though in theory that means wearing your headset while watching the movie – methinks Microsoft needs something like the Wii Speak microphone).

According to Microsoft, locally we’ll have access to more than 100 movies with each coming in at 240 Microsoft Points (or around AU$4), which isn’t too bad – it’s cheaper than Foxtel last time I checked).

Now all I need is my ISP to let me download that unmetered :S
